Laura
During her first visit to Frederiksoord, Laura was fascinated by the clear, visible structure of the former colony, and on the other hand the absence of human traces of the former colonists. She used the idea of the mold as a tool in ceramics to show how porcelain is forced to form itself within a fixed structure, resulting in individual pieces with individual differences. Porcelain has a strong personality, it’s fragile but stubborn. Laura’s tableware set is a material translation of the history of the colonies. It shows the true character and movements of porcelain within the fixed structure in which it is placed.
