Observatory 1D

Our natural environment is often neglected. We tend to overlook the everyday moments of beauty which light enacts around us. Nature seems to be restricted to a rigid grid of isolated islands in which people show increasingly less interest. Irakli’s project aims to create an experience allowing re-appreciation of the nature around us. Observatorium 1D is a camera obscura which uses a slit instead of a lens or a hole. By restricting the field of view to a narrow line it focuses the viewer's attention on the subtle changes and properties of light in the surrounding. The interactive installation aims to give the viewer a unique sensory experience through limiting the field of view and allowing to focus attention. By engaging people with the environment in a new way it aims to create a new attraction to the landscape of the Drenthe province.
